Under sun-drenched skies, the people of Glenarm, and beyond, turned out in droves to enjoy the action-packed 4-day event. First up on Thursday was It's A Knockout. 8 teams competed for top spot, through a variety of zany games, from scuba-diving wheelbarrow racing to timeless classics such as Dodgeball.In the end, it came down to a face-off between the Glenarm Rovers team and The Tea-Birds. The odds-on favourites were Glenarm Rovers, and despite a valient effort from the young beverage-serving ladies, the local lads came out on top.
Friday was the Fancy Dress Parade - led by the stupendous Glenarm Riverdance Troupe. A huge crowd turned out in various arrays of delightful costume paraphernalia and many were rewarded for their efforts during the prize-giving ceremony at the Beachfront Carpark. The gathering crowds were there treated to a free BBQ and serenaded by the vigourously vivacious tones of local band Shotgun.
Saturday turned out to be another right scorcher, and the team of dedicated helpers were out in force like busy little bees obeying the instructions of Queen Bee Nigel. There was little time to spare as everything was meticulously prepared. The evening saw tremendous crowds gather to watch the local talents of Mark and Alison Beattie, Josh Carr and Mr JAG. The evening was abley compered by U105 and UCB's Jules Martin who also interviewed Trevor Morrow, who presented a clear and concise gospel message. Finally, the main act was Mal Rodgers, the local musician now living in Nashville. His enthusiasm and stage presense enraptured an ever-growing, ever-livening audience until the evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks display.
Sunday was a more low key affair, featuring the eartly, soothing sounds of gospel bluegrass band The Low Country Boys. Again a fantastic crowd turned out thanks to another day of radient sunshine and clear skies.
